This is where any scholarship announcements that come through the counseling office will be posted. While this is by no means a comprehensive list of ALL scholarships, this is the best place to find local scholarships.

November Deadlines:
Hagen Scholarship: Scholarship to help rural students with financial need graduate debt free. Open to students with a 3.5 or better GPA and a 23 or better ACT score, must attend a 4 year college. 200 scholarships awarded, up to $5,000/semester!
*Note, must do 2016 FAFSA using 2015 tax information.

NFIB: The Young Entrepreneur Award is opt to students who operate their own small business.

Burger King Scholars: Open to students with a 2.5 or better GPA.

Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation: Several scholarships available for students (click the "Aitkin or Itasca County High Schools" link on their webpage for a list.)

Alworth: $20,000 over four years for students from NE Minnesota going into math, science, engineering and medical fields. Must be pursuing a 4 year (bachelors) degree. Must have a 25 or higher ACT score and a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Lake Country Power -Les Beach Memorial: Up to $4,000 ($1,000/year, renewable) for students whose parents/guardians are Lake Country Power customers. Must have a 2.5 or better GPA and be involved in your community. Can be used at any 2 or 4 year college.

Alpha Kappa Psi: Scholarships up to $18,500 for students admitted to the Carlson School of Management at the U of Minnesota.

Drake Physics Prize: First place is a full tuition scholarship to Drake University. Open to students in MN, ND, SD, IA and NE. Paritcipating students will take an exam on topics covered in the first semester of a typical high school physics class.

February Deadlines:
Mediacom World Class Scholarship: $1,000 non-renewable scholarships for students who live in areas serviced by Mediacom. (You do not need to be a Mediacom customer. A list of towns they service available on their website.)

Buick Achievers Scholarship: 50 Scholarships Each up to $25,000 a year. Qualifications - Plan to enroll full time at a four year college or university and major in a specified course of study focused on engineering, technology or design with an interest in the automotive industry.

Blandin Foundation Scholarship:
$1000 to $4500 each year - so you can get the training you need.

Horticultural Society Scholarship: Two $500 and one $250 scholarship for three students NE Minnesota. Open to current high school seniors as well as current college students who have shown an interest in gardening/horticulture either as a hobby or vocation.

Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation: The GRACF application is used for the following local scholarships; Hill City Community, Riverwood Health Care, HCUE Ann McDonald Memorial, Helen Kaslow Swarm, in addition to matching you with many outside agency scholarships based on their requirements.

Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship: Two $500 scholarships (one for a student attending a two year school for a vocational/technical degree or certificate needed locally, and another for a student attending a 4-year college or university for a BA or BS degree). Students from any Itasca area school can apply.

SFM Foundation: Scholarships for students whose parents were killed or seriously injured in workplace accidents while working for MN, IA or WI employers. Up to $10,000/year for up to 5 years.

David DeLeo Memorial Scholarship: For students interested in mining and related fields such as geology, engineering and physical science. Must have a 3.0 or better GPA.

The Timothy L Correll Foundation awards a minimum of 4 scholarships of up to $500 annually to individuals who demonstrate initiative, leadership and service to their community. The applicant must be a Minnesota resident and either already enrolled or entering an accredited program in the fall of 2016 to train for a career in fire science, paramedics, or nursing.
Scholarship applications and the required supplemental information (reference letters, transcript) are due May 20, 2016. Scholarship award winners will be announced on or before May 31, 2016.
